We recently journeyed north to spend a week at Julie’s home church, Apostolic Christian Church, in Mount Vernon, Ohio. After two canceled flights and an extra day of travel, we arrived Sunday evening…the same time church was starting! Although we had been up since 3am, we were anxious to get dressed and get to church. Sunday evening, two people were baptized in Jesus’ name and one received the Holy Ghost. God was preparing to do mighty things!
Pastor Kramer and the church worked feverishly to complete their new evangelistic quarters prior to our arrival. The beautiful accommodations were second to none. They had gone out of their way to make us feel comfortable and relaxed.
Bro. L.J. Harry is an expert on organization. He divided the city into sections and assigned those to church members. Each one was responsible for covering their area with door hangers. His attention to detail allowed us to canvass the entire city in a few short days.
Friday evening, the Jr. Youth and their fearless leader, Dawn Kramer, braved the rain to pass out door hangers. It was wonderful to see the children/young people so excited about doing something for God.
Saturday, M&Ms and Music in the park proved once again to be a success. Many guests from the community came to enjoy the live music, drama and martial arts. This also gave the church an opportunity to personalize those in their community. One family was visiting with a guest and scheduled a home bible study, only to realize that the guest lived just down the road from their home!
Sunday afternoon, the guests began to arrive. The children enjoyed a great time in Kids Church. The presence of God filled the sanctuary. Several received the Holy Ghost and were baptized in Jesus name. Many first time guests came to the altar and received a wonderful touch from the Lord.
We enjoyed spending an extra day with Julie’s friends and family. Since we don’t get to see them often, this made our time in Ohio very special.
