What's wrong with this picture? It's not supposed to
snow in southeast Texas!!
After a great service last night with the Wheelers and the kind church family at First Church of Orange, we headed out to eat.
Afterward, we stopped by the store and noticed the rain on the windshield was changing to sleet! By the time we got back to the guest quarters at the church, it had changed to snow!!!
Julie found it very funny that the schools here in Orange were delayed today. Growing up in Ohio, there would have to be a blizzard for school to be canceled or delayed!
We enjoyed the early Christmas present. The great part about Texas snow…it's in the 50s today and in the 70s again this weekend!
With a forecast like that, let it snow… let it snow… let it snow!!!

Check out my friend Kristi’s blog post. She’s in New Orleans and they just had snow too! Craziness!! They cancel school here in MD over one or two flakes which is silly considering it snows here every year. Probably has something to do with the fact that our area is full of wimpy democrats that need to toughen up already! Haha!
I remember MVPS used to take the school buses out and if they ended up in a ditch then there was no school. That’s what the rumor was anyway. There was never a time we were soooo happy to get a phone call from my aunt then on snowy days because we knew that meant school was canceled!

I forgot about mom’s early morning phone calls! She loved to be the bearer of good news and as soon as she got the word, she’d call everyone. (For those who might not know, my mom was secretary to the school superintendent, so she got “the word” pretty quick).
Those were the days when you’d try to go back to sleep, but were too excited about a day off to sleep! Thanks for the stroll down memory lane!!

You know what’s weird is that when it was snowing in Texas and Louisiana it was RAINING in Maryland. Now that is weird. Remind me again where the cold states are and where the warm states are. Scratching my head here.

No jealousy here. I enjoyed the snow (for one night) and was glad for the warm temps to return. That’s my kind of winter!

Actually, even last year when we had that blizzard with 21 or so inches, we didn’t get out of school at all. But yesterday, we had a delay, even though there was no snow, but a little bit of ice.
