On Friday night, we spoke at a soul winning service at the Abundant Life Church in Willis, Texas, pastored by Dave Stovall. After the service, we headed out into the city streets. (Upon leaving the church property, there was a sense of enthusiasm and expectation in the air). Within twenty minutes, we were headed back to the sanctuary, as two people were ready to repent and be baptized!
While the second person was being baptized, another man walked into the sanctuary, and began to talk about the needs he had in his life. After discussing the plan of salvation with him, he said, "If anyone needs to be baptized, it's me!" We quickly led him to the prayer room, where he began repenting, and seeking after the Lord. By the end of the night, five had been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ!
On Saturday, a group of Abundant Life members gathered around the church for prayer, and then hit the streets in an effort to hand out fliers, and speak to people about the Lord.
What a tremendous day for establishing positive contacts within the community! I can't explain how positive that day was for the church. The people of that community received us with open arms. I firmly believe that many conversions will come as a result of the incredible meetings that took place, that day.
On Sunday, we had many first time visitors, and a tremendous service. Two men were baptized in the morning service, and one girl received the Holy Ghost, and was baptized in the evening service. To God be the glory!
My wife and I had such a tremendous time while in Willis. The church people were fantastic. They treated us with dignity, and really made us feel special. We established several friendships while there, and look forward to connecting with them in the days ahead. We are very excited about being with them again in June of 2008, for an outreach-oriented revival.
I must take a moment and tell everyone about my new friend, Logo. "Logo" is the 10 year old son of Pastor and Sis. Stovall, otherwise known as Logan. He has a charismatic personality and draws the attention of many, wherever he goes. He is an astute bible quizzer, and a fan of the Houston Astros.
During our outings, Logo was the center of attention! It seemed like everyone was naturally attracted to this young boy. I am convinced that God has a special touch upon his life, and will use him in monumental ways.
His mannerisms, and social etiquette are unparalleled for boys his age. He is kind, energetic, compassionate, passionate, and one sharp 10 year old. He has a heart for the things of God, and he practices extensively on his bible quizzing. In fact, in 2006, he was awarded the National Quizzer of the Year, in the Novice Division!
I will ensure that some pictures of "Logo" are uploaded to the photo section of this site. Please take a few moments and check them out. In one photo, he has his Astro batting helmet on, and his favorite number (44) as well as his nickname are clearly seen.
If you are in the area, please stop in and visit with these great people! Brother and Sister Stovall are a class act, and are doing an exceptional work in Willis, Texas. If you are looking for a church home, please look no further. You won't be dissatisfied with this one! The people are absolutely incredible.
